Skip was the best. At AT&T, he helped immensely in Switch Translations, as well as a bunch of other knowledge.
And he was a good friend.

I just found out about Skip's passing last year was was deeply saddened. Skip and I served on the rivers of Vietnam in 1969 and 1970. We were assigned to a gun boat division in the Mekong Delta- we were "war buddies" We were part of the Swift boat group and were part of a 6 man crew on Swift Boat # 97. We shared our life back home, and our near death war experiences, over a beer after every one of our 110 combat patrols. I haven't seen Skip in many years, but I will always remember his stories, jokes, and teasing, and will miss him terribly.

I met Skip when he came down to headquarters to interview for a management position. I was the clerk to manager at that time and I told him go sit over there, bootyhead, I'll get to you in a minute. Boy oh boy what a start of a crazy relationship. I loved Skip cause he was a fun person. He could be serious but he loved to kid and I was game. We work together at SSC Riverfront then in Livonia. He will be missed.

Skip was something else, of course, if you knew Skip, you know that!
Richard umpired with Skip back in the 70's and they went to Myrtle Beach, golfing for more than 25 years. So Richard had to narrow down from the many memories.
One had to do with an alligator with grass clippings on it. Skip was talked into seeing if was ceramic... it was NOT!!!... Skip jumped 4 ft in the air as he made his escape!
And the time there was only 6 in the group, so a couple serious golfers were put in their group ... they were in the 1st 4-some with Skip following with his mini boom box, full blast, playing "dead skunks in the middle of the road" ... the serious golfers only played 9 holes and they were out of there...
and there were exploding golf balls... a few times- different victims!
I remember when we had a costume Halloween party and Skip & Maryann came as snot and a handkerchief, with slime on their hands when you would their shake hands... gross!!!
But mostly Maryann & Skip were the most loving, caring people, you could ever meet!
When we went to visit, they drop everything for us.
Skip, we will definitely miss you! I'm sure you're probably already organizing a golf game...
And you will continue to watch out for your friend from your heavenly position!
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your life.
Della & Richard Cieciek

There are so many memories! The Caribbean cruise and our trips to Mexico and the times at the timeshare in Myrtle Beach were the big events but we have 60 years of good friends getting together for last minute dinners, kids graduations, birthdays, anniversaries and lots and lots of cards and games and lots and lots of laughs. I know you'll remember this, Mare… we laughed until we cried when we were in Acalpuco and Skip was trying to speak Spanish to our cab driver. He threw in the few Spanish words he knew but mostly he was speaking loudly in English with a Spanish accent. Even the cab driver was amused.
We can't believe he's gone. We're gonna miss him so much!!!
Love and sincere condolences to MaryAnn and the family.

Memories are built on a lifetime of events, and I have shared a lifetime of events with SKIP. Knowing him my entire life, we have shared grade school, high school, all of our growing up years, our weddings, the births of our children, Woodland Reunions, 42 years of U of M football, countless get together's and celebrations, too many to count, even the loss of our Family members, and we have always been there for one another, so I am Blessed with abundant memories, and the privilege to have known SKIP and have had him in my life. He is now Home, greeted by his Mom Florence, Dad Charlie, Beloved sister Connie, and all his Family and Friends who have gone before him. I will miss You my Dear Friend, until we meet again, Theresa
Skip had a great sense of humor and was always a lot of fun to be with. He was loud & brash, that was his style, he was not afraid to be his own person. I was lucky enough to be his friend for some 50 years, I will cherish the memories, and I will truly miss him! Love you Buddy! Dale

I met Skip many, many years go in WAOA, a softball umpiring origination. We became the best of friends for many years, although Skip and I had not spoken in a lot of years I was extremely sad to hear of his passing. Skip and I had sooo many wonderful experiences together; whether it was on our bowling league, living through Lion's losses, or 20 years of Myrtle Beach golf trips, but the best was Michigan football games where we would end the day in his driveway with singing one more round of the greatest country song ever, "You Never Call Me By My Name" by David Allen Coe…RIP Skipper Prayers to Mare, Toby, Rusty, Becky and all the grand-kids. There are some people that blend into the crowd and there other people who stand out. Skip was one of the standouts. He was a friend to all and a strong leader at Riverhouse where he lived. A solver of problems, a joker {so funny} and a worker for all. Whoever steps into his shoes will have a tough path to follow. So God speed my friend, you will be missed. Jim/Martha

We shared family stories, his oldest son's wild swimming party, my daughter skipping school in the second grade and both of our spouses illnesses. I will miss his wise cracks here in Michigan and Florida on Facebook. You will be missed and my condolences go out to Skip's family.

Skip was a very well liked regular at Jon's Goodtime for many years while he and Mary lived in the Inkster/Garden City area! There were many times that when Skip dropped in to "The Zone" the fun would really start! We always had good conversation and great stories from Skip of the local history. Sports were always in the mix! I looked forward to getting together with Skip for a round of golf every February on my trip to visit family in Ft Myers! Skip was a great guy and I'll miss him dearly!

My memories of Skip involve working on phone company stuff with Nortel. We met at TSA conferences and had great times advising Nortel on the things needed. But we had better times after meetings. He was the adviser during my first ever pro hockey game in Ottowa. I wouldn't have kept up at all without his help. The whole gang enjoyed that freezing night getting a cab back to the hotel.

He had also taken a photo of me and posted it on FB with the caption " I hope she has the number for Uber!!" That was Skip always full of fun and I will miss his voice, smile and the sparkle in his eye when he was up to something!! His FB posts for his friends birthdays were always so heartfelt.
