Obituary of John B. LaVallin

JOHN B. LaVALLIN, 88, of Englewood passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Englewood Community Hospital. Born on December 4, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA to John and Mary (Haggerty) LaVallin, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Pharmacist Mate, First Class at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Puerto Rico. He was then transferred to the Mine Sweeper #42 in the Pacific. After returning to Philadelphia, he worked for Jacob Reeds Sons in sales. He was a resident of Englewood for twenty-one years coming from Blue Bell, PA and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Grove City. Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-five years: Edith M. LaVallin of Englewood, FL; three sisters: Carolyn (Joseph) O' Dea of Rydal, PA; Anne Palazzolo of Jenkintown, PA; Mary Stone of Glenside, PA; eleven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be said on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 10 Am at St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Englewood Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been selected to handle arrangements.
