Obituary of Joseph A. Braun

Joseph Anthony Braun, 90, of Englewood died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Tidewell Hospice.Born on May 18, 1919 in Glandorf, Ohio he served in the US Army during World War II. A resident of Englewood for many years, Mr. Braun retired from Libby-Owens-Ford (LOF) Glass Company in Ohio after more than thirty years. He loved to hunt and fish and owned a breeding kennel in Bono, Ohio where he raised Basset Hounds and Beagles. He was very involved with his love of dogs. He was a retired licensed AKC dog show judge and a delegate of AKC in NY. He served as President for the Toledo Kennel Club; Bassett Hound Club of America; Ohio Dog Owners Association; and was a the founder, charter member and past president of the Greater Venice Dog Club. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Rotonda West. Survivors include his wife of twenty-two years: Marjorie B. Braun of Englewood, FL; one son: Michael Braun of Oak Harbor, OH; one step-son: David Leaf of Herndon, VA; step-daughter; Constance Kerrigan of Berlin, MD; one sister; Betty Bashara of Livonia, MI; eight grand children and fourteen great grand children. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Joseph Braun.
