Obituary of Stephen Shane

STEPHEN SHANE, 85, of Port Charlotte, FL died Monday, January 25, 2010 at Englewood Community Hospital. Born on February 6, 1924 in Rochester, New York, he served in the U. S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Franklin. He was a manager for a welding and fabrication company and moved to Charlotte County after retirement in 1989 from Rochester. He was a member of the American Legion Post 113 in Rotonda West, FL and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Grove City, FL. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of fifty years: Anita S. Shane of Pt. Charlotte, FL; one daughter; Karen (Charles) Shaw of Pt. Charlotte, FL; two sons: Richard (Linda) Shane of Rochester, NY; Donald (Kathleen) Shane of Chesapeake, VA; seven grand children: Jennifer Paul, Brian Shevlin, Melissa Shane, Christopher Shevlin, Kelly Phillips, Michael Shane, Kateland Miller; seven great grandchildren and two nieces. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 6 PM until 8 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:30 Pm at Englewood Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3070 So. McCall Road. Funeral Mass will be said on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 10 Am at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 5265 Placida Road. Burial will follow at 1 PM at Sarasota National VA Cemetery, Sarasota, FL.
