-(Gratitude for Grandpa continued)-
....Bronze skinned and bikini bottomed
"There's always a room here for you, hon"
unceasingly generous in thought
Grandpa's lifetime on earth on earth has made our lives immeasurably full
There always will be room in our heart for your joy to live on

With Love and Gratitude for Grandpa
The flag rests at half mast for you;
swaying gently over the Myakka river and I am still
Recalling memories of Grandpa's legacy-how to begin?
We've all been gifted with the treasures of your art
created by hand
woodwork, crafted airplanes, objects embellished with sea shells
You made growing up a grandchild of yours an adventure
Riding fast- holding tight
mini motor biking past bright orange tiger lillies
the humidity an afterthought
Sparklers on the Fourth of July
and
other blessings of the Seneca Lake cottage:
Boating, fishing, inner-tubing, and seaweed "fights"
You instigated the "water in the wine glass trick"
and
humorously suggested
"Anybody want to order a pizza?" after one of Grandma's sumptuous Thanksgiving meals
Every day was summertime with you

To My Dad who has been called home to God
Dad was a very talented and gifted man. He never ceased to amaze me with his knowledge, his ideas, and his convictions. Up until his stroke, I don't think there was anything that he couldn't do.
He loved life, and it showed in everything Dad did. He had a positive attitude and an infectious smile that seemed to draw people to him instantly.
He always met each day's challenge, and never complained.
He loved Mom with everything in him. With his whole heart and soul, he adored her and everything she is. He loved his family, giving each of us a wonderful example to live by. He truly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often acting like a kid himself. He always said "Life is too short," and he really got the most out of each day.
When his ship was attacked during World War II and he found himself in the water without a life preserver, he thought he wouldn't survive like so many of his shipmates. But he did survive. He was saved for all of us to know, but especially for Mom,Rick,Don and me. He was the best Dad anyone could ever have, and a wonderful role model. He was always generous with his time and his talents. Always willing to share.
50 years have gone by so quickly, and I am thankful for having known him, and to have had him in my life for that time. I hope that after 50 yrs with my kids and grandkids, they will say the same about me.
Recently I read something that really stood out, and I know Dad would have embraced.
Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, and forget about the ones who don't.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a 2nd chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody ever said life would be easy. They just promised it would be worth it.
Thanks for everything Dad. I love you so much, and I'll see you when we are all together again.
Your loving daughter, Karen xox xox xox

Aunt Anita and Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. The photo in the paper brought back an instant memory of the day Uncle Steve brought a go-cart "kit" out to the house for Dad to assemble for us kids. I couldn't have been more than eight or nine at the time (1964/65?), but that's a memory that will never fade nor will the warm smile of Uncle Steve that touched so many. The go-cart is still running and presently belongs to a boy in Worthington, OH and by extension Uncle Steve continues to bring joy!

Anita,
My deepest sympathies and prayers for you and the family. What a wonderful guy who will always be remembered in my thoughts and prayers. Steve taught me many things. One being, "If you think it is possible, it is." Everything from go-carts to power boats.
GOD, I am sure has received Steve with open arms. Sincerely, Jed

My thoughts and prayers go out to every one who knew him and was touched by him. The memories of the cottage at Seneca lake are ones that always bring a smile to my face and I think its because of the strong and positive presence that he brought to every one. His personality was happy and infectious and he and Aunt Neta always wanted every one to have fun and enjoy their time with them.
