Obituary of Mary Margaret Lamary

Mary Margaret Lamary, 92, a 25-year resident of Arcadia, Florida passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Port Charlotte Tidewell Hospice House.

Mary was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on August 29, 1931, to Raymond W. and Ann C. (Volk) Reynolds.

She graduated high school in 1949 from Saint Benedict Academy in Erie.

She married Joseph Robert Lamary on October 25, 1950. Together, they raised 12 children in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Mary was a member of the Erie Human Relations Commission and also served two terms as a school board member with the Erie Independent School District.

In 1979, she graduated from Mercyhurst College with a Bachelor’s Degree.

In 1980, her and Joseph completed their move to Miami, Florida. Mary worked as a Corrections Officer with Dade County Corrections Facility, until her retirement in 1997.

Her hobbies included playing her Baby Grand Piano, sewing, knitting, crocheting, needle pointing, and reading.

Mary is survived by three sons: Robert (Patricia) Lamary; George (late wife Peach) Lamary; Michael (Patty) Lamary all of the Erie area and four daughters: Margaret Lamary of Lakewood, Colorado; Penelope (Shawn) McCarthy of Waxahachie, Texas; Paulette (Russell) Cook of Winter Springs, Florida; Petrine (Jeff) Winkle of Port Charlotte, Florida. She is survived by her sister Jean (Jack) Miller of Chicago, Illinois.

She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-nine years, Joseph Robert Lamary, and five children, Patricia, William, Pamela, Daniel, and John.

The family will have a Celebration of Life service at a later date.
