Obituary of Bill LaMack
William “Bill” J. LaMack
August 25, 1950- October 30, 2023
Bill was born in Chicago, IL and was a graduate of Steinmetz High School in 1968. After a short time at Northern Illinois University, Bill worked at Midwest Hi-fi and then moved on to earn his real estate license.
Over the past 47 years, Bill served the Barrington community as a Realtor. He started his career with Annen and Busse and then moved to Countrywood Realty in the late '70's. He ultimately bought the business and created ERA Countrywood Realty as the Broker/Owner. Most recently, Bill enjoyed the quieter side of real estate when he sold his business and joined Coldwell Banker. He was a legend in the Barrington Real Estate community, and always had time to help newer agents, and mentored many agents through their careers.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Ida, and father, Edward. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Phyllis; his children Dean Tubekis (Samantha), Gina Gonzales (Gilbert), Trisha Abbinante, and Whitney LaMack; grandchildren Nicole, Stephanie, Alex, Deanna, Jacob, and Francesca; and sisters Lynn Troutman (Fred) and Barbara LaMack (Jim Kalvelage).
Bill was known for his knowledge regarding many topics. Have a question about cars…Bill would know. Furnace not working…Bill could fix it. Lost…Bill could get you home. Need to sell your house…Bill was your guy. He took deep pride in his family and cherished his wife, Phyllis. Their trips to Hawaii and cruising across the Atlantic brought them great joy and many memories. A Hawaiian shirt, Corvette hat, and a mischievous glimmer in his eye; Bill lived his best life and took care of all those whom he loved.
A celebration of life will be held in January in Illinois.
