Obituary of Diantha L Lanning

Diantha “Babe” Lanning, age 82, passed away peacefully at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, Florida on July 27th, 2023.

Babe was born on May 29th, 1941 in Pontiac, Michigan. Her parents were Fred and Lousie Bokor, of Milford Michigan.  She attended Milford High School, where she was a majorette and participated nationally with drum and bugle corps.

The summer that she graduated high school, she met the love of her life, Dave Lanning of Brighton, Michigan.  The two met at the A&W in Brighton, and married after a short courtship. Soon they welcomed a son, Kelly, and a daughter, Lisa.  Dave and Babe went on to enjoy 64 years of marriage.

Babe was happy to be a stay-at-home wife and mother.  In her younger years she taught baton twirling in their home. She also loved deer hunting, she and Dave made several trips to Canada where they hunted off horseback. The entire family was also avid snowmobilers.  When Dave went into business with Snap-On-Tools, Babe hosted many meetings, picnics and parties for his group.  They have been very active with many classic and antique car clubs, and often hosted picnics at their home, and planned outings for the clubs. In 1977 a job transfer moved the family from Michigan to Wisconsin.  Babe and Dave lived in Wisconsin until Dave’s retirement, and then the couple moved to Englewood, where they have lived for 32 years.

Babe was very easy to talk to, everyone enjoyed her company. She also passed on her love of going to thrift shops, rummage sales and antique shops to her children and grandchildren. She was sweet, kind and beautiful. Her grandchildren adored her.
