I remember the first time I met Hale it was the day of their wedding.
I happen to be their flower girl.
I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a cold winter day with some snow. Everyone had nervous excitement. I thought I was a rock star being only 5 years old and wearing a red velvet dress with puff sleeves and i carried a white rabbit fur hand muff. I remember seeing a handsome tall gentleman with a beautiful smile as he saw his bride. That kind gentleman smile has always been part of the Hale we all knew. His heart was always full of love for his family and he would always have a story or two about each one of them and how they were all doing in their lives.
Our family (the Costello's cousins from CT.) Being from a very large family of 9 kids Sandy would come and spend summers at our home to help my mother with her brew and in exchange new school clothes to start the year.
Hale RIP I know there is a place just for you in heaven.
Love cousin Patrica :heart::pray::skin-tone-3::v::skin-tone-3::kissing_heart:

I have no idea where to even start. Uncle Hale was just one of those men that I wanted to be like when I was growing up and certainly one that I model being a father after. Just always a calm confident presence around him. A kind loving family man with a great sense of humor. It's because of him that I never wear light colored shorts while golfing. Those who know, know why! Couldn't think of a more fitting memory to share than that of him with my son 8 weeks after becoming a dad. I will miss you! Love to the girls and their families and Aunt Sandy!

I have never met a more selfless and endearing human being - Uncle Hale will truly be missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. Sending our extended family prayers, love and hugs. May all the family memories you have all made together give you reason to smile and be thankful as you honor his memory. May you find strength in your love for Uncle Hale and one another to help get you through these difficult times. :gift_heart:

Dear Sandy and Family,
Wendy and I give our heartfelt condolences and prayers to all of you.
I have so many wonderful memories of Hale and each and every one of
them are full of love and true friendship.
Hale was the proudest man I ever knew, and it was true love for his Family.
His wisdom is reflected in all who knew him, he was a gentle Giant.
I first met Hale the day I moved into the neighborhood on Charlane Circle,
the 25th of June 1976.I knew I had a friend that moment.
I always knew when it was Sunday, when I looked down the street and all of his family
were there for dinner, this happened every Sunday.
A truer Family man I have never known, and that makes him a true Gentleman.
God Bless Hale and his Family,
Wendy and Gary

The many, many memories I have of you I will cherish forever. I think back and smile at the time spent together camping, most notably at "Hi Bill's." Family softball games, bubble gum blowing contests, wagon rides and end of Summer birthday celebrations.
I take comfort in knowing that you're enjoying laughs and company at the family reunion above the clouds.
I love you Uncle Hale. Love, Kathleen

There are so many memories, to name them all would be difficult. However, he was so much fun and so positive. Whenever things got heated in a room he always changed to the subject to something unrelated and out of the blue! He always new how to calm everyone down and relax. He was so patient and warm. Such a a great man!! I am blessed to have him as my grandfather and to have the years I had with him. Love you forever pop!

Growing up as a neighbor I have so many fond memories of Hale and always appreciated how he was a great friend to my parents. I can't see a wood stove and maple syrup and not think of the time the dads got together to make syrup . That house must have been 1000 degrees when they finally got their 5 ozs of syrup! Great man who I always admired and looked up to. He'll be missed!

I grew up hearing such wonderful stories of Uncle Hale was from my dad, who views him as a second father. Spending time with Uncle Hale in person only reasserted that he really was the kind, thoughtful, hilarious, down-to-earth, and genuinely good man from Dad's stories, and I feel lucky to both have heard the stories of Dad's memories and created new memories with him in the time we spent together. I'll never forget him and Chris teaching me how to shoot the crossbow in Ohio (and his laughter when the arrow I shot landed right in the middle of the target! What a lucky break!) or when he fell asleep on my shoulder during my first Thanksgiving away from home, which instantly made me feel a little bit more at home despite still being 10 hours away. Heaven truly did gain an angel in you, Uncle Hale. Thank you for everything - for your love, for your laughs, and for helping shape my dad into the man he is today (which I can never thank you enough for). Here's to carrying on the goodness that you put out into the world every day you were here.

My lasting memory of Uncle Buster was at one of his daughters weddings, my first time in Ohio, or anywhere for that matter. He asked me if I wanted a pop. Now to me,( the troublemaker), a pop, meant, a hit. I didn't want to be hit, so I said no. Then I was asked by like 5 other people, who couldn't understand, why this kid from NY, didn't have a SODA in his hand on this super hot day. My mom straightened it out with me explaining that "they call soda, 'pop' around here"
