Obituary of Selby L. O'Rear

Selby O'Rear born in Humansville, MO on Dec. 28, 1937, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Oct. 20, 2021. He died from an illness and heart failure. He was 83 years old. Selby was a unique, spirited, confident personality who charmed his way through life. He had a quick-witted sense of humor complimented with his warmth and desire to connect; he was able to disarm anyone he met. Selby was an incredible story teller with an infectious laugh that filled any room. His numerous interests were college football, WWII history, True Crime, and his children. He loved the adventure of travel and embracing new places. He is survived by his wife of 30 years; Jo Rigassio and his ex-wife Sue Zann Gabriel-Stone, his children; Greg and his wife Stacie, Megan, Shawan and Casey and his wife Courtney. His brother; Charles and niece and nephew; Stephanie Carpenter and Mike O'Rear. His grandchildren; Maureen, Madelyn, McLaren, Grayson, Brooklyn, Connor, Abigail, Kara, Lina and his step-children; Lisa and Tracey, his sister-in-law; Lora Resignato. He treasured them all. Selby will be sorely missed. Kansan City, MO Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 2 to 4 PM in the Chapel of St. Teresa's Academy 5600 Main St. Kansas City, MO 64133. A second Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 2 to 4 PM at the Family Residence.
