Dear Little Sister,
As you know that when someone we love so dearly goes to be with the Lord, we realize that they are in a better place, but the sorrow is still so great. It is our prayer that your faith will bring strength for each new day, and that you will remember the many good memories over the years that you and we shared with Clyde.
As Clyde once held you in his arms warm and secure, so now is God holding him in His loving arms; what a comfort! Please know that we are here for you and love you with all our hearts.
Jeanine and Harold

I will always be thankful for the times that Clyde filled my pulpit at Wintergarden when I had to be away... and I always looked forward to his horrible jokes, whether in the church or announcing for the Charlotte Chorale... Clyde was always pleasant with a great smile and warm personality and I know that he will be missed by many as he touched a multitude in his years of Christian Ministry... it was an honour and a pleasure to have known and served with Clyde...

Matthew 7:20 says, "By their fruits you shall know them." At Concordia, in October of 2019, we saw a sample of Coach's "fruits." I estimate that approximately eighty people attended the luncheon to honor him. Coach wore many hats. He was coach, pastor, mentor, and friend. Now, in the context of The Sermon on the Mount, we must add "farmer" to the list of his designations. We will continue to work his fields.
Charles Darwin taught that we must adapt or die. The precepts that Coach modeled are eternal. Truth requires no adaptation. Love, loyalty, and integrity are enduring. Coach's tenets are steadfast. Lord, give us the strength to be faithful to Coach's lessons and example.
"When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, and I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me." (1 Corinthians 13:11) Coach, the trailblazer, (yet another designation), showed me the path.
Agape,

Dear Virderie,
May God bless and comfort you and your family during this difficult period; please accept our sincere condolences. Also know that you are included in our daily prayers and thoughts.
Although we have been gone from the Florida for some time now, it only seems like yesterday when we said our last "good-byes". It also seems like yesterday since we had our weekly "let's get the bulletin done before Sunday morning rolls around" chats on the phone. Pastor Clyde was the brains of our many, many weekly phone calls and we were just his fingers on a computer keyboard mile away. It was a task of love, for the Lord, and a task of love for our Pastor Clyde.
We remember the wonderful times we had eating ice cream at Culvers and sharing an impromptu meal at a local eatery. Trips to someone's tourist attraction type home, built with junk, leaving Clyde and all of us dumbfounded for days.
Even though we saw Pastor Clyde and beautiful Virderie for years, every Sunday, the hour-long phone calls during the week were a blessing to the mind and soul.
These times and moments will never be forgotten. The fact that they were shared with Clyde and Virderie made them even more joyful and memorable. We too are filled with sadness hearing of our wonderful friend's passing. However, our faith tells us that we too will see each other again, held in that comforting embrace of Our Lord (and probably with all the ice cream we can eat!)
Love,
Al & Darlene Cohan

Back in the 60's my family and I were members of the Village Lutheran Church, Bronxville. One evening the congregation held a spaghetti dinner. Afterwards Dr. Kaminska put on a fake goatee and, posing as "Itch Miller", a takeoff on Mitch Miller, led us all in singing. He made it a fun night.

Virderie, I am so so very sorry to hear that Pastor Clyde has crossed the bridge to his eternal life. You were such a comfort to me back in 2012 when my dear sweet John passed. I will never forget your kind and comforting words. You are in my prayers my dear friend.

Virderie, my sincerest condolences. I am filled with sadness to hear of Clyde's passing, but find confiort in knowing he is with the Lord, whom he loved so much. I remember the day I met Clyde at Wintergarden Presbyterian Church. He lit up the room with his contagious smile, his soft but powerful voice and the twinkle in his eyes. Clyde managed to sneak a little humor into every conversation. He was kindhearted and generous. He loved the Lord, he loved you, Virderie, he loved people and he loved those 'ice cream' Sundays! I was blessed to have crossed his path and will cherish the memories of him forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God Bless you all. Love, Kari Albanes
