Obituary of Jay Allen Paine

JAY ALLEN PAINE, 86, of Englewood passed away on Friday, March 26, 2010 at his Sarasota County residence. Born on April 3, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio; Jay served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He attended Pasadena College and majored in finance. He was an entrepreneur who owned and operated several businesses' including United Photo Engraving, Inc. in Bedford, OH; Imperial Custodial Services, Shady Grove Tavern and MHP and The Main Street Inn all in Twinsburg, OH. After he retired and moved to Florida in 1977, Jay kept busy working in several local funeral homes as a driver and general assistant. His last position was with the Englewood Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Englewood. Jay was a member of the B.P.O.Elks Lodge 2378, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1933, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3885 all in Englewood; and the American Legion Post 159 in Venice. Survived by his loving wife and companion: Shirley M. Paine of Englewood, FL; three daughters: Jacquelyn Paine of Chicago, IL; Janice Paine-Webb of Rochester Hills, MI; Gale Paine of Twinsburg, OH; two sons: Gary Paine and Allen Paine both of Ravenna, OH; one grandson: Michael Webb. Also surviving is one step-daughter: Ann Bair Vituj of Englewood, FL; one step-son: Terrence Bair of Petersburg, MI; seven step-grand children and three step- great grand children. He is pre-deceased by a step-son: Gerald Bair in 1987. Service and interment will be in Ohio.
