Obituary of Dorothy Frances Gretz Marten

Dorothy Frances Gretz Marten, 91, of Cape Haze, Florida passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2010 in Englewood Community Hospital. Born on July 20, 1918 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she had been a resident of Charlotte County for twenty-nine years coming from Euclid, Ohio. Dorothy attended Hallahan Catholic Girls High School in Philadelphia and went on to Drexel Institute of Technology to earn her B.S. Degree in 1939. Her interests included music, reading, birding, swimming and needlepoint. She enjoyed traveling in Europe and volunteer work, especially with Hospice. Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Milton Lewis Marten, daughter, Ann Marten, daughter-in-law: Jane Marten, son-in-law: Thomas Podojil, parents, Jane (Callan) and William Gretz, Jr. brother, William E. Gretz, and sisters, Ruth Clay, Jane Yates and Mari Liebert. Survivors include three sons: William (Sandra) Marten, Lawrence (Sharon) Marten, Theodore (Kathleen) Marten, three daughters: Katherine (Joseph) Campagna, Constance (John) Herbert, Elizabeth Podojil, one brother: Robert (Eloise) Gretz; cousin: Marie Bauerle English, 14 loving grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to a Hospice of your choice.
