Obituary of Charles B. Keller

CHARLES BENJAMIN KELLER, 89, of Port Charlotte died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte. Born on February 20, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Sea Bee. He has lived in Charlotte County for ten years coming from Lakeview, MI. Retired from General Electric after forty-two years; he was a life member of the Boy Scouts of America and was an Eagle Scout and troop leader. A life member of the Lions Club, he was Lion of the year 1944-1945 and 1991-1992, and served as the Michigan District Governor 1994-1995. He served as a judge and township clerk for Montcalm County in MI. A member of the Michigan ski patrol, he loved skiing, fishing, hunting and bowling. He was an Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakeview, MI and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years: Betty J. Keller of Port Charlotte, FL; one daughter; Patricia Dorn of Conway, WA; two sons: Michael Keller of Greenville, MI; William Keller of Englewood, FL; two brothers; Eugene Keller of Shelby Township, MI; Donald Keller of Grosse Pointe Farm, MI and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11 Am at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 6465 Mayport Street, Englewood with Rev. James T. Kress, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the Redeemer Lutheran Church Memorial Garden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church in memory of Mr. Keller.
