Obituary of Donald F. Pittman

Donald F. Pittman, 80, of Rotonda West, FL died Friday, January 8, 2010 at his Charlotte County residence. He was born December 1, 1929 in Joplin, MO to Bernard and Ann (Kosloff) Pittman. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Germany during the Korean War. Donald moved from Scituate, RI in 1994 after retiring as an executive with Citizens Bank in Providence with over 35 years of service. He was a past president of the Boston Chapter of B.A.I., a member of the St. John's Masonic Lodge and was Past Patron of Providence Chapter #1, O.E.S. He designed and made stained glass windows for his church, The Church of the Master (Baptist) in Providence. He enjoyed local and Broadway theatre and volunteered at the Lemon Bay Play House in Englewood, FL for many years. He was a passionate scholar of archeology and history. He and his wife visited many of these important sites during their travels around the world. He is pre-deceased by his parents and a brother, Richard. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 ½ years: Eleanor "Flit" of Rotonda West: two sons; David W. and his partner Desmond Chin of Brooklyn, NY; Steven R. and his wife Heidi of Salisbury, MA., one daughter; Marilyn A. Caruso and her husband Chuck of Port Charlotte, FL: a brother; Larry James of Bayonne, NJ and four grandchildren; Abigail and Madeline Pittman and Nicholas and Benjamin Caruso. There will be a celebration of life in the memory of Donald on Saturday, January 16, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Englewood Community Funeral Home, Inc. 3070 S. McCall Rd., Englewood, FL 34224.
