Obituary of Allan D. Popham

ALLAN D. POPHAM, 70, of Englewood died Monday, October 5, 2009 at his Charlotte County residence. He had been a resident of Englewood for nine years coming from Columbus, Ohio. Al was a career Army National Guard recruit guidance counselor, prior to his retirement in 1991. After moving to Englewood, he was employed by the Boca Royle Golf & Country Club as a gate attendant. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1933, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3885, and the Am Vets. Survivors include one daughter: Melissa Walton of Englewood, FL; two brothers: Donald Popham of Ripley, OH; Lowell Popham of Scottsdale, AZ; one sister: Margaret King of Lexington, KY; one step-son: Joseph Mesi of Columbus, OH; two step-daughters: Maria Cantelmo of Columbus, OH; Tanya Mesi of Hilliard, OH; eight grand children and two great grand children Al's sunny smile will be missed by the folks entering the Boca Royle Golf & County Club. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 2 PM at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1933, 55 West Dearborn Street.
