Obituary of Marcy Brooke Demaree

MARCY BROOKE DEMAREE, 67, of Gulf Cove, Pt. Charlotte died peacefully at Fawcett Memorial Hospital on Friday, September 4, 2009 after a four-year battle with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells. She loved her grandchildren, sloppy joes, celebrity tabloids and her dog, Troy. She didn't like onions, cheerleaders or Marie Osmond. She was born on February 20, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Gene and Marion (Allen) White. Marcy and her husband, Bill, moved to the Englewood area twenty-one years ago from Orlando, FL. A 1960 graduate of Thomas M. Cooley High School in Detroit, she moved to Florida in 1979 where she earned her masters degree in special education at the University of Central Florida. Her last position was with Garden Elementary School in Venice where she retired in 2005 after seventeen years. Survivors include her loving husband of thirty-eight years: Bill Demaree of Port Charlotte, FL; sons David Clothier and his wife Bobbie Jo of St. Petersburg, FL; Mark Clothier and his wife Amanda of Douglasville, GA; daughter: Amy Clothier of Rotonda West, FL; stepson: Michael Demaree and his wife Lisa of Winter Springs, FL stepdaughter: Renee Demaree of Tahoe City, CA; her mother: Marion Majeski of Englewood, FL; two brothers: Thomas E. White and his wife Susan of Woodlands, TX; David White of Nokomis, FL; stepsister: Judy Edwards of Mountain Lakes, NJ; and eight grand children: Jack, Joseph, Ethan, John, Abigail, Kaley, Emma and Cole; nephews and niece: Tommy, Chuck, Michael and Katie; as well as Troy, her much-loved, much-fed Jack Russell Terrier. Marcy wanted her memorial to be a celebration of her life, so bring you best stories about her and be ready to laugh. The service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 2 PM at Faith Lutheran Church 551 Rotonda Blvd. W. Rotonda West, FL 33947 with Rev. Carl Kaltreider, officiating. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Michigan at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to H.
