Obituary of Norma Pontz

Norma Elva Pontz, 83 of Englewood, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, August 1, 2009 in Port Charlotte. She was born on December 29, 1925 in Connecticut. Norma moved to this area 22 years ago from Plymouth, MA. She was the current President of the Sew-Sew Club. She was also an avid bird watcher, beach enthusiast and a World Class Mom! Survivors include her 9 children: Janet L. Pagano of Easton, CN; Jennifer A. Pontz of Kona, HI; Richard G. Pontz, Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ; Robert H. Pontz of Raleigh, NC; Laurie Downing, of Port Charlotte, FL; James J. Pontz of Wareham, MA; Randy H. Pontz of Port Charlotte, Fl; Russell N. Pontz of Plymouth, MA and Joel J. Pontz of Carver, MA; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Dick" Pontz in March 2005 and her son Jeffrey A. Pontz in December 2007. In celebration of her life, a private gathering is scheduled on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 between 10:30 and noon at her home on Peacock Lane in Englewood. At her family's request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the wonderful organization of Tidewell Hospice & Palliative Care
