Obituary of William Bud H. Dowling

WILLIAM H. DOWLING William "Bud" Harris Dowling, 84, of Englewood, Florida died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at his Charlotte County residence. Born on January 24, 1925 in Buffalo, New York; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunner on a PT boat in the South Pacific. He played semi professional baseball. Mr. Dowling retired in 1984 from the City of North Tonawanda, NY as a tax assessor after thirty years. He moved to Englewood twenty-one years ago. He is a member of the B.P.O.Elks Lodge 2378 and the V.F.W. Post both in Englewood; and was a life member of the American Legion Post 264 in Tonawanda, NY. He loved sports, woodworking golf and home ownership. He is pre-deceased by a daughter, Cristine. Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-one years: Molly D. Dowling of Englewood, FL; three sons: Randy H. (Marcia) Dowling of North Tonawanda, NY; Richard N. (Patricia) Dowling of Kenmore, NY; Robert W. Dowling of Tampa, FL; nine grand children and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Sarasota National VA Cemetery.
