Obituary of Leonard A. Ridenhour

LEONARD A. RIDENHOUR Leonard Aubrey Ridenhour, 89, of Englewood, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Englewood Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born on June 20, 1919 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina he was a resident of Charlotte County for twelve years coming from Louisville, KY. After serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, he married Margie Beatrice Martin in 1949. Mr. Ridenhour began working for the Norfolk Southern Railroad in NC and retired in 1983 as Captain of Police and Special Services in Louisville. He was a member of the Salisbury Masonic Lodge in NC; a Past President of the Kentucky Peace Officers Association; a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2378 in Englewood, FL and was a Kentucky Colonel. He is pre-deceased by two brothers: Banks and Norman Ridenhour and a sister: Jacqueline Clawson all living in NC at the time of their death. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 60 years: M. Beatrice Ridenhour of Englewood, FL; two daughters: Karen (Kees) Streuding of Rotonda West, FL: Kellie (James) McDonough of Louisville, KY; four grand children: Evan Streuding, Lecia Ackerman, Alex and Connor McDonough and many nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Leonard Ridenhour to Christ Lutheran Church, 701 North Indiana Avenue, Englewood, FL 34223.
