Obituary of Edward Vaughn

Edward Joseph Vaughn, 68 of Placida, FL passed peacefully Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the Tidewell Hospice House in Englewood, FL with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Roslindale, MA to Otis and Frances Vaughn. Edward was a commissioned Officer in the U. S. Navy. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. Upon graduation he sailed for Isbrantsen Lines, American Export, and Farrells Lines and raised his licenses as he sailed. He sailed as Chief Engineer for Farrell Lines for 15 years with 7 of those years ashore as a Port Engineer sailing ships out of Port Elizabeth, New Jersey. He worked in the Merchant Marine Industry for 40 years. Mr. Vaughn was a Mason, belonged to the Rotonda Elks, American Legion Rotonda, and Englewood YMCA and missed his many friends when he was unable to attend. He leaves behind his loving and caring wife of 43 years; Elizabeth who will greatly miss him: four brothers; Otis (Jean) of Mesa, AZ; Robert (Barbara) of Coronado, CA; Fred (Joanann) of Mentor, OH; Philip (Irene) of Grapevine, TX: a sister Ruth Bosland of Cranbury Township, PA: six nephews; Gary (Carolyn) of Punta Gorda, FL; Kenneth of ME; Jeffrey (Pat) of CA; Douglas (Laurie) of CT; Robert (Cathy of NC Kevin (Tracey) of OH; Andrew (Cathy) of NJ: two nieces; Laura of OH: Deborah Wiesehan and a brother in law Paul Wiesehan. Visitation will be on Monday, August 18, 2008 from 2:00 PM until the service time at 3:30 PM at the Englewood Community Funeral Home and Cremation Service 3070 S. McCall Rd.
