Iraida Herbst

Obituary of Iraida Herbst

Iraida was born in The Bronx, NY To The late Rudolph and Rose Mathias on May 22, 1945.

Her father was stationed in many different places serving our country in the Army.

She lived in New York, New Jersey, Kentucky, California, Germany, Panama, Puerto Rico and Florida.

Her childhood allowed her to visit many European Countries and these experiences shaped her into an accepting and open minded adult, no matter who you brought home to meet her, they all got her signature smile and warmth.

She met her Husband of 55 years Robert Herbst Jr at The A. Harry Moore School in Jersey City, NJ.  It was a school for deaf, blind and children with disabilities.

From their first date to exactly 4 years later they were married on February 1, 1969.

Iraida was always keenly observant of all situations and when she spoke in her soft voice it was meaningful and thoughtful.

The 2 together were the symbol of a classic love story.  She was his "Ears" and He was her "Legs".

Iraida was born with Cerebral Palsy and Robert was deaf.  They never let that interfere with Living their Best Life.

The 3 most important things to her were Family, Faith and Elvis, in that order.

She will always be remembered as a big part of the Family.

She was a long-time member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and her faith was unwavering.

Iraida and Robert made Englewood, Fl their home for almost 25 years.

Words can never express the loss we feel, but Heaven

chose to give her wings and is now our shining star.

Iraida Rose you will always be in our memories and know that we all Loved you and we knew how much you Loved Us.

She is survived by her loving husband Robert of 55 years, devoted niece and nephew Debby Walters and William Schork of Englewood,
