After completing Line school, George was inducted into the U. S. Army as a lineman in July 1955. He was in the signal corps and was stationed in Germany for a stint.  During his time overseas, George was selected as soldier of the month out of the entire European Theatre. This was a great honor.  He also received a good conduct medal and several letters of commendation.

After his time in the army, George returned to Pennsylvania to work for Philadelphia Electric as a lineman and foreman in the Eastern Division. He worked faithfully for the same company for 36 years before retiring in 1992 and moving to Placida, Florida with his wife, Christine. They enjoyed spending time together and sailing on their sailboat.

George first met Christine in 1978 at Flannery’s Restaurant Bar in Penndel, Pa. It was love at first dance.  His friend bet him 20$ that she would dance with him. So, George asked her, and she said yes.  They danced together and were inseparable ever since.
