Obituary of Elaine Henrikson

 Elaine Henrikson

May 6, 1940 -January 27, 2023

Englewood, Florida

Elaine Henrikson passed away after a brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family as she gained her wings. Elaine was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Born in Upstate New York, Elaine met and married her husband Ken of 57 years. Elaine and Ken raised five children in Ballston Spa, New York. They were an active family who loved camping, canoeing, hiking, skiing, ice skating, traveling, visiting Disney World and going to the beach. Their favorite destination landed them in Ocean City, Maryland, near Assateague Island, where Elaine opened up a surf shop called FUN IN THE SUN. After several years Elaine and Ken fulfilled their next dream, moving to Florida. Elaine loved the beach and shelling, spending time with friends and family. She also loved the mountains of the Adirondacks and spending time around a campfire singing songs and telling stories. Elaine was an advocate for her children, family and friends. She was fiercely loyal and loving to all she knew. Her laughter was infectious and her singing was legendary.

Elaine was predeceased by her loving husband Kenneth Henrikson, her parents Gladys and Earl Smith Jr, her sisters Charlotte Van Dervoort (Henry) and Dorothy Pakatar (John), her brother Earl Smith III(Peggy) and her son in law John Close. She is survived by her brother Thomas J.B. Smith (Joyce), her children; Debbie Close, Steven Henrikson, Denise Platt (Karl), Laney Solomon (Bill) and Heidi Henrikson, her grandchildren; Erik Close, Michael Close (Tasha), Jennifer Close-Daniels, Zackary Henrikson, Jeremy Henrikson, Erika Trammell (Matthew), Karl O Platt IV, and Sophie Solomon, her great grandchildren, Aaron Close, Kody Daniels, Ayden Daniels, Gavin Close, and Landon Close, as well many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
