Robert Kennedy

Obituary of Robert L. Kennedy

Robert “Bobby” “BK” Leavitt Kennedy, 87, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, January 20th, 2023.  He was born on July 29th, 1935 in Goffstown, NH to the late Joseph and Viola Kennedy of New Boston, NH.

Bobby grew up in New Boston where he and his brothers were well known to play a town prank which fueled his infamous storytelling later in life. It has been said: “no one can tell a story quite like a Kennedy!”.  Bobby was a gifted athlete and baseball player. He was the catcher on New Boston’s infamous baseball team and later played professionally for the Baltimore Orioles. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer; was known for his one-liners; and had a laugh like no other. He enjoyed a high ball that he could taste; and a scratcher for the win with the Beach Boys singing “Kokomo” in the background.  He was a skilled carpenter and cabinet maker, who along with his brother Jerry, formed the highly respected construction company known as Kennedy Brothers; and he was a family man who loved his family above all.

He raised his family in New Boston, and in later years, he enjoyed living in Weare on Horace Lake in the summer months and as snowbirds in Port Charlotte, Florida.  Florida life was filled with golf by day, fishing by night, and precious time spent making memories with family and friends.

BK is survived by his lifelong love Theresa “Tessie” Hight Kennedy of 67 years; his son Marvin Kennedy; his daughter Tamra Kennedy and her wife Nancy Thomson; his daughter Tenley Welch and her husband Donny; his daughter Tonia Kennedy; and his son Merrick Kennedy and his wife Joanne.  He is predeceased by his son, Mark Kennedy.  Bobby has eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren to whom he is known as (great) Grandpa Kennedy.  He is predeceased by his oldest brother Richard Kennedy and his younger brother Jerry Kennedy; and is survived by Richard’s spouse Kay; Jerry’s spouse Jane; his sister Arlene and Willard Dodge; his brother Stephen Kennedy and Nancy Williams; his brother Chester Kennedy and Debbie Bortz; and his many loving sister-in-law’s, brother-in-law’s, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours and a celebration of life ceremony dates and times are to be determined.  There will be services planned in both Florida and NH.  Further information and dates to come.
