Obituary of David E Corbeau

David Eldon Corbeau, 61, passed away in Fort Meyers, Florida with his loving family by his side on February 21st, 2022, after two months of battling a recovery from heart surgery. David was born in Portland, Maine on March 16th, 1960, to his loving parents Paul and Marjorie Corbeau (Johnson). Dave attended Scarborough schools where he was a well-known basketball player. After graduating high school Dave followed in his father's footsteps going to work for S.D. Warren. Shortly after graduating high school Dave met his wife, Wendy (Pooler). In 1979 David started his career as a Reserve Officer for the Scarborough Police Department at which he was later promoted to Reserve Sargent. In 1982 Dave and Wendy were married and later welcomed two sons, Matthew & Michael. In 1996 Dave was hired as the Harbor Master and Marine Resource Officer for the town of Scarborough where he remained throughout the rest of his career until 2015 when he retired. Dave was a devoted son, brother, husband, father & community member, often referred to throughout family and community as their 'social butterfly and big teddy bear or gentle giant'. His sons have fond memories of Dave attending their sporting events, White Mountain motorcycle rides, snowmobiling, boating and so much more with their father throughout the years. In 1999 Dave started a small landscaping company, Prime Cut Landscaping, which created a career path and a legacy that both of his sons continue to be a part of and continues to be a big part of the Scarborough community to this day. Dave was known throughout the Scarborough community for his generosity, his extreme acts of kindness, his ability to talk to anyone and everyone about absolutely anything, his giggle (a.k.a. 'his manly laugh') that could be heard from anywhere and his rosy, red checks that were an instant friendly invitation. Dave lived his life in service of others, his family, his brothers in blue, his community and his friends. After retirement Dave and Wendy found joy in wintering to Rotonda, FL where they connected with friends, new and old, through boating, golfing, and traveling; and spending their summers at Bayley's Campground in Scarborough where Dave worked as a Security Officer, aka Bayley's Campground most friendly and welcoming greeter, where everyone looked forward to an evening visit from Dave. In the summertime Dave also enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Jackson. Dave and Jackson were known to be found roaming Bayley's campground on Dave's golf cart, at Dairy Corner or the arcade. Dave will be greatly missed by his; his wife, Wendy, of Rotonda, Fl; his sons, Matthew and wife, Beth, of Buxton, and Michael of Naples, his only grandson, Jackson, who was his biggest fan; his loving mother, Marjorie; his sisters, Paula O'Brien and husband, Tim, Laurie Hartley, and Susan Corbeau all of Scarborough; his mother-in-law, Gloria, for whom he very much loved and cared for; his brother-in-law, Craig Pooler of Scarborough; and his loved and cherished nieces and nephews, Lindsay, Adam, Kelsey, Brandon and Mackenzie. Dave was predeceased by his father and lifelong mentor, Paul, and his beloved sister-in-laws, Kathy Pooler, Cindy Pooler, and brother-in-law, Robert Hartley. Dave's family will be holding a small private Celebration of Life in Florida before heading back to Maine for a private family celebration. A public Celebration of Life will be held at Bayley's Campground, 275 Pine Point Rd. Scarborough, ME 04074 on the afternoon of Saturday, June 11th, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Waddles For A Cause, a nonprofit that was organized in honor of Dave's grandson who courageously won his battle against Childhood Cancer and supports Maine families facing Childhood Cancer, a cause that was near and dear to Dave's heart. Donations can be made online at www.waddlesforacause.com or mailed to 16 Davis Rd. Buxton, ME 04093 and will be recognized in honor of Dave.
