Obituary of Thomas F Mahaney

It is with great sadness that the Mahaney family announces the death of Thomas F. Mahaney. He passed on December 22, 2021 surrounded by his family. Tom was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from Delcastle High School and spent 38 years working at ACME Markets. Tom resided in Delaware for many memorable and wonderful years raising his children until he was able to live out his dreams of retirement. Tom moved full-time to Englewood, Florida in 2016 where he enjoyed all of his favorite things - spending time with his wife Rosanne, golfing, kayaking, fishing, searching for shark teeth on the beach and visits from his family. Tom was also an avid dart player winning many tournaments and earning a national ranking, but his favorite title of all was that of "Pop Pop"; he took great pride in being a grandfather and truly loved watching his grandkids grow up. Tom is survived by his beloved family, Rosanne, his wife and best friend of 32 years, his son Joe and his wife Lisa, and daughter Nicole and her husband Scott Dresen. He also leaves brothers Patrick & his wife Regina, Edward & his wife Kimberly, along with many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Tom was also the proud Pop Pop to his grandchildren, Thomas (T.J.) and Grace Mahaney who he loved and adored. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Grace. Tom made the best of each and every day and truly cherished the life he lived. He had a contagious personality and was able to make friends anywhere he went. His generous spirit, optimism and enjoyment of life are all qualities that those who knew him adored and admired. While Tom will be greatly missed, all of the wonderful and happy memories will be held close to our hearts. His family will host a celebration of life at the Deer Park Tavern in Newark, Delaware on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM to honor his memory and reminisce on the good times we were all lucky enough to share with him. Another celebration will be held in Englewood, FL at a later date.
