To Jane & Family
Bud was my mentor for two summers at the International Graduate School in Saint Louis (1983-4). Without his constant pushing me to do better, I would have probably been ashamed of my dissertation, however, because of that I ended with something to be proud of.
My roommate for the two summers had him as his advisor also and we developed quite a nice friendship. We would go to breakfast together almost every morning and that also gave him some extra time to give us advice on things we should do and not. Both of us transferred credits from other institutions which allowed us to finish in two summers. There were students there who had already been two and were not finished.
There were so many times throughout the remainder of my teaching career that I thought of Bud and was grateful for having known him.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Shirley and i were so sorry to hear of Harold's passing. We send condolences to all of his family'
More than 50 years ago in Syracuse, NY at the Eastern Regional Institute of Education (ERIE) I had the pleasure of working with Harold and this was followed by several years at Indiana University. It was always good to work with Harold, to admire his professionalism and achievements. We attended many athletic events together and enjoyed just socializing and were sorry to have lost contact in recent years.

Jane and family,
So sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Harty. I was his secretary in the School of Education at Indiana University. I have great memories of working for him back in the 80's. He was such a great guy! He will be missed.

My deepest sympathies to Jane and family. Bud was the first to welcome me into the neighborhood and his kindness , fairness and wise demeanor will always be remembered. During countless hours on the golf course we got to know each other and I considered it an honor to call him my friend. His sense of respectability and fair play will stay with me forever. If there is anything at all that the family needs, call on me. I owe it to Bud.
