Obituary of Maurice L. Halstead

MAURICE L. HALSTEAD, Jr. Maurice Leon Halstead, Jr., 86, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Maurice was born on September 8, 1922 in Wellston, Michigan to the Maurice L. and Isabelle (Lindsey) Halstead. He graduated from Dickson High School in 1937, worked in the steel industry and retired from the United Steelworkers International Union in 1983. Maurice entered the Ordinance Army Air Force, 315th Group in Grand Island, Nebraska where he met and married Olive M. Cole in 1943. After his service in Guam, they lived in Wyandotte, MI., where their four children were born. He was a member of the American Legion Post, V.F.W. and retired staff United Steelworkers of America. He was predeceased in death by his wife: Olive; son: Phillip, and two brothers: Richard and Lindsey. Survivors include his daughter: Bernadette of Rotonda West, FL; two sons: Stacey of Ludington, MI and Kevin of Wesley Chapel, FL; nine grand children and fourteen great grandchildren. Military service will be held at graveside in Wellston, MI in early June.
