Obituary of John Bob Gellatly

JOHN R. GELLATLY John Robert "Bob" Gellatly, 87, of Port Charlotte, Florida formerly of Shelton passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 at Pinebrook Rehab and Nursing Center in Venice after a long painful stroke suffered in 1981. Born on January 12, 1922 in Bridgeport, Connecticut he served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 - 1946 with the Black Hawk Division in Germany, he received a bronze star. He worked for Gellatly Construction in Shelton, CT and retired in 1981 after thirty-five years. He was a former member of Carpenters Union Local 110 and was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years: Yvette C. Gellatly of Port Charlotte, FL; two daughters: Linda (Fred) Dragone of Port Charlotte, FL; Janet Gellatly of San Francisco, CA; two sons: Bruce (Cathy) Gellatly of Cooper City, FL; Michael Gellatly of Sharon, CT; one sister: Ida Brennan of Sheldon, CT; two brothers; Charles Gellatly of Westbrook, CT; William Gellatly of Stratford, CT; five grand children, four great grand children and many nieces and nephews and friends. He is pre-deceased by his parents, brothers Danny and Poochie Gellatly, sisters Marjorie Meldon and Eta Gourley. Visitation and service was held. Englewood Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Inurnment will be in the Sarasota National V.A. Cemetery in Sarasota.
