CHARLES McLAUGHLIN Charles McLaughlin, 95, of North Port, FL formerly of Westwood, NJ died Monday, December 22, 2008 at Deep Creek Rehab & Nursing Center. Born on March 27, 1913 in New York, NY he has served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a Technical Sergeant with the 569th Bomb Squadron 390th Bomb Group. During his tour of duty he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and a Purple Heart. A resident of North Port for thirty-one years, he was a member of the V.F.W. Post 8203 in North Port and a member of the American ex Prisoners of War. Mr. McLaughlin worked for Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, NJ for thirty-three years prior to his retirement in 1969. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Catherine in 2001. Survivors include his daughter: Joyce (Larry) Chatfield of North Port, FL; one sister: Cecilia Emanuel of Sussex, NJ; one grandson: Russell (Rachelle) Miller of Bluffton, SC; one grand daughter: Alicia Chatfield of North Port, FL; one great grand daughter: Kaylee Marie Miller; one nephew: Jonathan (Jan) Statt of Liberty, NY; one great niece: Denise Wejnert of Westwood, NJ. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 26, 2008 at 11 AM at Venice Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Ben Jennings of the SonShine Baptist Church. Military Honors will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Sonshine Baptist Church Missions, 23105 Veterans Blvd., Pt. Charlotte, FL 33954 in memory of Charles McLaughlin.
