Obituary of Iona Pearl Chamberlain

Iona "Pearl" Chamberlain, 84, of Englewood died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at her Charlotte County residence with her loving family by her side. Pearl was one of nine children born on September 26, 1923 in Putney, Vermont to the late James K. and Ina E. (Pierce) Ellis, she had been a resident of Charlotte County for thirty-nine years coming from Augusta, Georgia. A loving wife, mother and homemaker for her family. Pearl being the wife of a military person traveled extensively in the United States and many foreign countries. She loved to travel and enjoyed meeting new friends. After her husbands retirement from the military they became the proprietors of Chuck's Marina, Inc. in Englewood for 26 years. During that time Pearl was also employed as the office administrator and sales lady. Pearl will be remembered by all whom knew her for her friendship, laughter and loyalty. Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-eight years; LTC Philip L Chamberlain, U.S. Army Retired of Englewood, FL; one daughter: Sandra Astley of Putney, VT; eight grandchildren: Johnny Chamberlain of Englewood, Christy Hurley of Menominee, MI; Don and Philip Astley and Lisa Damian of VT; Dennis of OH; Timothy and Shane La Flam of GA; fifteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a daughter, Penelope LaFlam; a son: Robert "Skeet" Chamberlain; and all of her siblings.
