Obituary of Bill McCaleb

BILL M. McCALEB Bill McCaleb, 87, of Englewood died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Englewood Community Hospital. He was born on October 4, 1920 in Bearden, Oklahoma and had been a resident of Englewood for nineteen years coming from Fairfield, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Silver Star recipient. Mr. McCaleb owned and operated McCaleb Trucking, a tank truck service. He was a member and Deacon of the Englewood East Church of Christ (Christian). Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years: Mary "Katie" McCaleb of Englewood, FL; one daughter: Mary Lee Irwin of Fairfax, VA; two sons: Stephen McCaleb of Venice, FL and David McCaleb of Englewood, FL; one sister: Geraldine Hedges of Ruskin, FL and two grandchildren: Heather Irwin of Fairfax, VA and Joshua McCaleb of Granite City, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 5:30 PM until time of service at 7:30 PM at the Englewood East Church of Christ (Christian), 9600 Gulfstream Blvd., Englewood with Minister Jim Ratliff, officiating. Burial with military honors will be Friday, June 13, 2008 at 1 PM at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Englewood East Church of Christ (Christian), 9600 Gulfstream Blvd., Englewood, FL 34224 in memory of Mr. McCaleb.
